As always, we cannot wait for London Marathon to come and the london marathon of 2020 is really something special this year. By the time that is all set to start on the 21st of April, the coronavirus maybe the reason to have concerns whether the event will be cancelled or not.
On London’s Marathon official website 58 days prior to the event we couldn’t find any announcement related to coronavirus and whether there is any concern of cancelling the event. Tokyo this year cancelled the event for non-elite participants so we have high hopes that the elite battle between Kipchoge and Bekele will take place.
The two main competitors, the two fastest marathoners of the world this moment, Kipchoge and Bekele are looking more ready than ever; they are in good form and places all their hopes to win this major event and who knows maybe to set a new World Record. This year Bekele is not facing as the previous year’s injuries and we believe he will be the great competitor of Eliud as we all expect to see.
Bekele managed in 2019 to close up the marathon world record for 2 seconds and Kipchoge in 2019 did that wild INEOS sub 2 marathon with 1:59. Both athletes competed with each other in the past to other distances but since Kipchoge turned into Marathon races from 2014 he is undefeated to any marathon event he participated.
Eliud is already a four-time London Marathon champion and he holds the course record as well with 2:02:30. If he manages to win this year it will be something special since nobody in the history of the sport managed to do it so far.
The last 6 years kipchoge never lost a race and he has in total of 6 marathon wins against the 2 marathons wins of Bekele that lost on each and every one marathon competed against Eliud. Will be different this year in London? Will the story change this year? – share your thoughts with us.
